Welcome to my extremely neglected website, which recently vanished for two whole months without me ever realizing! After well over a year of having no front page to speak of, I thought it might be best to put SOMETHING here to entertain the approximately twelve people who seem to stumble into this ghost town each month. So, without further adieu, here is a short list of things I am working on as of June 21, 2020.
CHICKEN: MOONLIGHT EDITION
This has been in the works for several years, but hopefully 2020 will be the year this updated version of my debut novel will finally be published. While I have always been proud of the original, it was written during a particularly dark period of my life and under no small amount of deadline duress. The Moonlight Edition is the result of my ability (as an indie author) to revisit the material from a position of improved mental health and align it more closely with my original vision which got a little blurred by circumstances.
UNRULY HEARTS (A working title borrowed from an amazing song from THE PROM)
I recently completed a feature-length screenplay as my thesis project for my Master's program, but it ran 15 pages too long and the story still feel short-changed, so I am now beginning the process of re-developing the script as a limited series intended for a streaming platform. I'm keeping the plot close to my chest for now, but it's a sexy, queer, romantic comedy-drama in the vein of FEEL GOOD on Netflix.
This is in the early planning stages. Adapting novels for the screen is always tricky business, but especially when the novel is as dependent on the protagonist's inner voice as Chicken is. Retelling the story in a filmable manner may require more changes than I'm really comfortable with, so I don't know if this will ever get off the ground or not.
So, that's what's going on with me right now. Due to the demands of finishing my graduate program, maintaining my primary income source, and also focusing on these personal creative projects, I won't be accepting any new Story Taming clients for the remainder of this year. As we approach 2021, I'll be reevaluating whether to continue with that venture or close it down.
I probably won't be updating this again for a good long while, so if you want to keep in touch follow the links in the sidebar to my Twitter, Instagram, or email.
